We arrived in Brighton after our few days in Eastbourne and
made our way to our hostel called Kipps Hostel and we pleasantly surprised with
the place. The room was large and had a very comfortable double bed (we had
paid for a double room rather than dorm) and even had mints on the pillows of
the bed. The room had an LCD TV and tea/coffee facilities. The bathroom was
outside the room but in it there were towels and a heap of toiletries that we
were free to use. The kitchen was well stocked and each night they had a theme
night (ie; free cake night, pizza night).
Our only full day in Brighton and we went to the pier for
the day which goes out a fair way into the ocean and had a permanent carnival
on it even with a rollercoaster on the end! The pier is covered with takeaway
stalls and games and had a couple of restaurant on it to. I was surprised how
poor condition some of the timber floorboards were however!
After a walk around in the warm (but extremely windy)
weather we had a bit of a look around town which was nice and had some good old
buildings, but was really an amazing place from what we could see. We had heard
it has the best night life but it was fairly quiet during the day.
We decided from here to hire a car to tour around Wales and
the rest of England as we looked at the inflated train ticket prices during the
Olympics (ie; 80 pound to London, 150 pound to Cardiff each way, whereas they
should have been about 15 pound!). In the end we left Brighton in a brand new
Ford Focus wagon for only 150 Pound for 6 days when we would return in to
London.
