United Kingdom - Eastbourne

After a few hours on the train from London we all arrived in a town called Polegate where we stopped at Sara's cousin's house for a night.  This was a very small town but a lot closer to the train station. We were fairly exhausted but stayed up taking till early morning.

The next morning we headed into Eastbourne for breakfast before heading to the Bed and Breakfast that Sara had booked for us called the Boathouse. The B&B was located along the beach area of Eastbourne and we had a beautiful view from our top story room. The room was fairly large with a TV, bathroom and amazingly comfortable bed! After some of the places we had been staying this was pure luxury.

After a bit of a rest to catch up on sleep, from the previous few nights, we walked a few kilometres to a pub  that Sara had indicated that Brook and her dad would be at in the afternoon called the Arlington Arms which presented itself as a very local small pub. Everyone who was there knew each other and we spoke to quite a few people while having a few Magners Pear Ciders. After a few hours here Sara met up with us and we headed to get some dinner which ended up being at another pub where Bec and I had amazing steaks.

The next morning after an amazing and much needed sleep we headed to Sara's house and Bec finally met her mum and got a tour of the house including meeting the giant cat and the pet lizard. From here we met up with some of Sara's friends for lunch and had a little look round town before heading in the car to the 'downs' which was a large hilly area along the coast with huge cliffs. Unfortunately the weather had turned horrible and it was cold, windy and wet! Mid afternoon we headed to the train station and caught a train to Brighton which was about an hour west along the coast where we would continue our UK tour from.

All up we loved Eastbourne... despite the weather. It was a very nice quiet place with some very nice old buildings. Just a pity the beach was just stones with no sand!
